  2. 2. Click "Add extension" in the Chrome confirmation popup.
  3. 3. A new tab will open, create your account there.

  5. 5. Done. Screen Ease starts tracking immediately.

Yes. An account is required to sync your screen time data to the dashboard, save your goals and break preferences, and use the Ease AI assistant. Signup is free and takes about a minute.

Screen Ease is a Chrome extension. It works in Google Chrome and any Chromium-based browser that supports Chrome extensions, such as Microsoft Edge or Brave. Safari and Firefox are not supported.

Extension & tracking

Screen Ease tracks the domain name of every website you visit (for example youtube.com) and how long you spend on it each day. It does not track full URLs, page titles, or any content on pages you visit.

No. Chrome extensions do not run in Incognito mode by default and Screen Ease does not track any Incognito activity.

No. The extension runs a lightweight background service that only records which tab is active and for how long. It does not inject scripts into pages or affect page load speeds.

No. The extension tracks your activity entirely in the background whether the dashboard is open or not. Just install it once and it runs automatically whenever Chrome is open.

Dashboard

Your screen time is on the Dashboard page, it shows today's total, your daily limit, time remaining, and your top visited sites. The Analytics page shows trends over time with a date range selector.

Go to Customization in the sidebar. Under "Manage Your Screen Time", enter your new daily goal in hours and minutes and click Save.

This usually means the extension is not installed or not running. Check that Screen Ease is installed and enabled at chrome://extensions. If you just installed it, browse normally for a bit, data should appear shortly. Try refreshing the dashboard too.

Breaks

Based on the break frequency you set during onboarding or in Customization, Screen Ease shows a full-screen break prompt after that interval of active browsing. You can start the break, snooze it, or stop breaks for the day.

Go to Customization in the dashboard sidebar. Under "Personalize Your Break Reminders", set your preferred break frequency and duration, then click Save.

Yes. Click "Stop Breaks" in the Breaks Overview card on the Dashboard, or in the extension popup. Reminders pause for the rest of the day and reset the next morning. You can resume them any time by clicking "Resume Breaks".

First check that breaks haven't been stopped for today in the extension popup. If breaks are active but still not showing, make sure Chrome notifications are allowed for Screen Ease in your system settings. On Mac go to System Settings → Notifications. On Windows go to Settings → System → Notifications.

Ease AI

Ease is the AI assistant built into your dashboard. Instead of reading charts, you can ask it questions like "why was I over my limit today?" or "which site am I spending the most time on?" Ease reads your actual screen time data and answers in plain language.

On the Dashboard page, click "Ask Ease about today" in the Recommendation & Insight card. This opens the Ease sidebar on the right side of the screen.

No. Ease only sends your usage totals your total screen time today, your daily limit, and your top 5 most visited domain names with time spent. It does not send full URLs, page titles, or raw browsing history.

Ease conversations are saved in your browser session for the current day and cleared automatically at midnight. They are not stored in our database. If you close the tab or click Clear, the conversation is gone permanently.

This is a temporary connection issue with the AI service. Try again in a minute. If it keeps happening, check your internet connection. If the problem persists, let us know.

Account & settings

Go to Account & Settings in the dashboard sidebar. Under "Password & Security", click "Change Password". Enter your current password and new password in the modal, then click Save.

On the login page, click "Forgot password?" below the password field. Enter your email and we'll send a reset link. Click the link in the email to set a new password — you'll be logged in automatically after resetting.

Go to Account & Settings and scroll to the bottom. Click "Delete Account". This permanently removes your account and all your screen time data and cannot be undone.

Right-click the Screen Ease icon in your Chrome toolbar and select "Remove from Chrome". Or go to chrome://extensions, find Screen Ease, and click Remove. Uninstalling stops all tracking immediately. Your account data remains until you delete your account separately.

Troubleshooting

Click the puzzle piece icon in the top right of Chrome to open the Extensions menu. Find Screen Ease and click the pin icon to pin it to your toolbar.

Go to chrome://extensions, find Screen Ease, and click the refresh icon to reload it. Then hard-refresh the dashboard with Cmd+Shift+R on Mac or Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows. If that doesn't help, try signing out and back in from Account & Settings.

This happens when you have a local development server running in your browser. Screen Ease tracks all tabs including localhost, this is expected. It will be less prominent as your usage of other sites grows.

If you've found a bug, please fill out the help form with what you were doing, what you expected, and what actually happened. That helps a lot in tracking things down.
